When talking colloquially and reporting speech, you should use any of the 4 grammar particles to point out who the quoted speech was directed in the direction of – 한테에게, 보고 and 더러:

My buddy informed me the ground was very slippery.

My buddy informed me the ground was very slippery.

My buddy informed me the ground was very slippery.

My buddy informed me the ground was very slippery.

Within the case of 더러, 나 + 더러 and 너 + 더러 develop into 날더러 and 널더러 respectively:

My buddy informed me the ground was very slippery.

Who says I can’t try this?
